GIRLS BASKETBALL

Destiny Slocum, Mountain View: The senior point guard led the Mavericks to their second 5A District Three Tournament championship in three seasons by scoring a game-leading 36 points in a 73-64 victory over Centennial. Slocum went 6-for-12 from 3-point range and added five rebounds and two assists for the defending state champions.

BOYS BASKETBALL

Nick Fitts, Melba: The junior guard established a school record for points in a game with 48 in the Mustangs’ 73-38 route of Marsing in a 2A Western Idaho Conference game. Fitts made 12 3-pointers to surpass Melba’s previous school record of 46 points, set by Dan Beus.

WRESTLING

Pierce Mederios, Mountain Home: The two-time defending 4A state champion won a showdown at 113 pounds against Caldwell’s Dante Carreno, who won a 4A title last season at 106. Mederios pinned Carreno, who also is a reigning Rollie Lane champion, in 6 minutes, 43 seconds.
