After a weekend of burning up the phone lines, the 5A state high school football championship between Mountain View and Rocky Mountain will kick off at 12:30 p.m. Saturday at Boise State’s Albertsons Stadium.

At issue was getting the stadium ready after Boise State hosted Air Force at 7:30 p.m. Friday and a parking crunch with comedian Kevin Hart’s show at 7 p.m. Saturday at Taco Bell Arena.

Mountain View Athletic Director Luke Wolf said the two schools expect 10-15,000 in attendance for the game, so Dona Larsen Park, which seats approximately 5,000, wouldn’t work.

“This is where the game needs to be, and it’s the way it always has been,” Wolf said. “It’s the right fit for everybody.”

This is the first time since 2009 that two 5A Southern Idaho Conference schools have met for the state title.
