The fifth annual Famous Idaho Potato Bowl Football Challenge features 15-minute halves, no pads, no defensive rushes and a 3.5-second time limit for quarterback passing.
Competition runs from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Friday at the Optimist Youth Sports Complex (9889 W. Hill Road), and continues at 9 a.m. Saturday with single-elimination games.
The varsity championship is scheduled for noon Saturday along with a Lineman’s Challenge from 9-10:30 a.m. and a Tug-of-War at 11:45 a.m.

This year’s participating schools are defending 7-on-7 champion Bishop Kelly, Boise, Bonneville, Capital, Centennial, Cole Valley Christian, Eagle (2014 Lineman’s Challenge winner), Emmett, Fruitland, Highland, Jerome, Lake City, Melba, Meridian, Mountain View (2014 Tug-of-War winner), Pocatello, Rocky Mountain, Skyview and Vallivue.
