Varsity Extra athletes of the week (Nov. 17-22)

Vincent Galindo III, Bishop Kelly: The senior scored on a 1-yard run for the game-winning touchdown with less than a minute remaining in the 4A state championship game at Holt Arena in Pocatello. Galindo's touchdown gave Bishop Kelly a 14-10 win over Blackfoot, securing the Knights back-to-back titles. On defense, Galindo had seven solo tackles, three assisted tackles, two tackles for loss and two sacks for 18 yards.


Ashlyn Woodruff, Vallivue: The Falcons went 2-1 in games last week, including a win in their 5A Southern Idaho Conference opener. Vallivue defeated Caldwell 71-44, Meridian 57-26 and lost 43-33 to Middleton. Woodruff finished the week with 55 points, 15 rebounds and 11 steals. The senior wing averaged 18.3 points while playing approximately 20 minutes per game. Woodruff's week was highlighted by a 30-point outing against Caldwell in which she shot 12-for-21 from the field.
