GIRLS BASKETBALL

Abby Kreiser, Mountain View: The two-time defending state champion Mavericks wrapped up the 5A Southern Idaho Conference regular season with three victories. Kreiser, a senior guard, averaged 20.3 points, 7.7 rebounds, 4.0 assists and 3.7 steals per game in wins over Rocky Mountain (57-53), Capital (56-47) and Boise (52-50). Mountain View locked up the No. 2 seed in the district tournament with a record of 18-3.

BOYS BASKETBALL

Paul Pennington, Boise: The Braves maintained second place in the 5A Southern Idaho Conference standings with wins over Eagle (61-32) and Columbia (72-35) and a 58-55 loss to first-place Rocky Mountain. Pennington, a junior guard, averaged 24 points, 7.3 assists and 3.3 steals per game, including a 40-point outing against Columbia in which his point total outscored the Wildcats 40-35.

WRESTLING

George Barrera, Borah: The junior improved to 28-1 this season with a victory at 285 pounds at the Red Halverson Invitational at Minico High in Rupert over the weekend. Barrera upended defending 4A state champion Michael Easterling of Canyon Ridge in the championship match 5-1.
