Friday’s prep football roundup: Rocky Mountain, Roper run over Lake City

Senior running back Jake Roper scored four touchdowns in the first half and finished with 135 rushing yards as Rocky Mountain took down Lake City 49-21 on Friday at the Kibbie Dome in Moscow.

Roper scored two TDs in both the first and second quarters, and the Grizzlies led by as much as 42-0 in the third quarter before Lake City was able to get on the scoreboard.

Grizzlies senior quarterback Christian Blaser completed 6-of-9 passes without an interception for 172 yards, including two TD passes to Jacob Shaw, who finished with 112 receiving yards.

Vallivue 35Caldwell 13

Junior QB Colton Yasinski completed 11-of-24 passes for 154 yards and three touchdowns and rushed for 110 yards and one more score to lead Vallivue to a win over Caldwell. In the Spirit of Sport Competition — which judges overall sportsmanship — the Cougars retained the cup. Quarterback Austin Van Horne paced Caldwell with 91 rushing yards and added a TD pass.

Borah 49Columbia 15

Jace Forrey scored three touchdowns — one rushing, one punt return and one reception — as Borah handed Columbia its 16th consecutive loss. Senior receiver Chris Hugon added a 70-yard punt return, and Borah QB Hayden Brown completed nine passes for 176 yards and two scores.

Eagle 68, Idaho Falls 0

Eagle had no trouble on the road as senior running back Bucky Schrader scored five touchdowns in the victory, and the Mustang defense held Idaho Falls without a score.

Madison 48Capital 20

The game was tied 20-20 in the third quarter, but Madison scored 28 unanswered points to surprise Capital in the season opener for both teams.


Senior running back Kennon Smith scored a rushing and receiving touchdown as 3A Fruitland took down 4A Middleton. The Grizzlies built a 21-0 lead in the third quarter. “I was just very impressed with their effort on the field tonight,” Fruitland coach Ryan Tracy said.

Emmett 45, Kuna 28

Emmett, the preseason favorite in the 3A Snake River Valley, took control early in a win over 4A Kuna.


Junior Eryck Petersen ran for 116 yards and two touchdowns, and Kobe Zimmerman, Brandon Patrick and Jacob Godina each grabbed interceptions for Notus. Zimmerman added 12 tackles, and Patrick had two sacks.


Junior Zack Johnson caught 12 passes for 204 yards and three touchdowns, but Garden Valley struggled after losing both its starting quarterback and backup to injuries.
