Centennial High graduate Michael Kafari joined Puerto Rico FC of the North American Soccer League, the second tier of American soccer, last week.

The midfielder and Boise Nationals alum started and played all 90 minutes Saturday in Puerto Rico’s 1-0 home win over Rayo OKC.

Born in Ghana, Kafari, 24, graduated from Centennial in 2010 and led the Patriots to the 2009 state championship before playing at the University of New Mexico.

The Vancouver Whitecaps drafted Kafari in 2014 but didn’t sign him. He moved on to USL’s Charleston, S.C., playing in a U.S. Open Cup game before signing with Sporting KC and playing in four friendlies.
