CHAMPIONSHIP: Preston 1, Twin Falls 0 (OT)

Junior midfielder Chloe Hendrickson made the game-winner with three seconds left in the first overtime, giving Preston its first state championship since the IHSAA began sponsoring state soccer in 2000. Preston, which only allowed one goal the entire tournament, handed Twin Falls its first shutout of the season.

After its streak of playing in five straight state title games came to an end Friday, the Knights failed to rebound from a tight semifinal loss to eventual state champion Preston. Caite Augustine scored BK’s goal on an assist from Cameron Coyle.

CONSOLATION: Middleton 2, Kuna 1

Middleton brought home hardware in a matchup of league rivals with the help of two goals from senior midfielder Bailey Crofts. Kuna’s Tori Hommel tied the game at 1-1 on an assist from Jaylee McInerney before Crofts netted the game-winner.

THIRD PLACE: Lake City 3, Centennial 2

Lake City led 2-1 at the half and added an insurance goal in the second half to knock off Centennial. Jack Barett, Garrett Flolo and Travis Swallow had one goal apiece for Lake City, which had lost in the consolation game the previous two seasons.

Century’s Hunter Mansfield scored in the opening minutes, and the Diamondbacks didn’t allow Lakeland to get on the scoreboard until late in the second half. It was Century’s first state title in program history. The Diamondbacks also got a goal on a header by Oakley Linscheid to take a 2-0 lead.

THIRD-PLACE: Bishop Kelly 2, Caldwell 1

Bishop Kelly took advantage of short-handed Caldwell, which was playing with 10 players after a red-card ejection of leading scorer Adrian Arguello early in the game. Matt Sammartino and Brennan Gazdik recorded goals for BK, while Ricky Galvan notched Caldwell’s only goal.

CONSOLATION: Emmett 5, Filer 1
