Point guard and incoming senior Destiny Slocum was called up Monday to represent the United States at the 2015 FIBA U-19 World Championships on July 18-26 in Russia.
Slocum — the No. 4-ranked player in the nation in her class, according to ESPN.com — attended Team USA’s camp at the U.S. Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs, Colo., in May and did not make the initial roster, which is made up mostly of incoming college freshmen. But she will join the team as a late addition for the 16-team tournament, which starts Saturday with the U.S. taking on Spain.
