Sofia Huerta was named the National Women’s Soccer League player of the week on Tuesday, becoming the first player in league history to win the award in back-to-back weeks. The league began in 2012 and started awarding players of the week in 2013. The rookie forward scored two goals for the second straight game, bringing the Chicago Red Stars back from a 2-0 deficit Friday to earn a 2-2 tie with Houston. Huerta is tied for the league lead with four goals in five games this season.
