Boise State signee and current Mountain View High senior Bryce Kirby won the boys 100 meters in 10.73 seconds Saturday at the Oregon Relays at Hayward Field. Kirby is the reigning 5A state champion in the 200 and owns the state’s fastest times in the 100 and 200 this season. On Friday, Eagle senior Kolbi Sims, a San Jose State commit, bested the field in the girls long jump. Sims’ winning mark of 18 feet, 9 3/4 inches ranks first in the state this season by more than 9 inches. In the 3,200-meter relay, the Mountain View boys (8:04.14) and girls (9:41.20) each took second.
WOMEN’S SOCCER: Centennial High graduate Sofia Huerta had two shots and two fouls committed in her professional debut as the Chicago Red Stars beat the Seattle Reign FC 3-2 in a National Women’s Soccer League game Saturday night in Chicago.
