Former Broncos golfer Graham DeLaet shot a 1-under 69 on Sunday at the Travelers Championship, finishing fourth (14-under 266) and qualifying for the British Open.
It was the third top-10 finish of the year for DeLaet, who was one shot back entering the final round.
The four highest finishers not already qualified for the British Open received exemptions. DeLaet was the highest finisher without an already guaranteed spot for the third major of the year, to be held July 16-19 at the Old Course in St. Andrews, Scotland.
“It’s definitely a goal,” DeLaet told reporters. “It’s disappointing that I’ve kind of fallen down the world rankings. So it’s important for me especially at St. Andrews with the history there, obviously.”
DeLaet was No. 92 in the world rankings before the tournament.
