Vandals give Petrino contract extension through 2020

Idaho football coach Paul Petrino received a three-year deal that will take him through the 2020 season, after it was approved by the Idaho State Board of Education on Thursday.

Petrino, who is 6-29 in three seasons with the Vandals, has a new annual salary of $393,526 (with media appearances), plus bonuses.

The Vandals will play in the FBS Sun Belt for two more seasons before moving into the FCS Big Sky for the 2018 season.

Petrino’s previous deal was set to expire after the 2017 season.
