We’re counting down the days to the Boise State football team’s first spring practice with daily blog posts on players to watch. Spring ball begins Monday and ends April 13. The Spring Game is April 11 (5 p.m.).

4. DE Kamalei Correa

Correa punctuated a breakout sophomore season with a walk-off sack to end the Fiesta Bowl.

He was a question mark a year ago at this time, having fallen behind classmate Gabe Perez at the stud end position. A successful summer and strong fall camp set Correa up for what turned into a monster season – and created huge expectations for the rest of his career.

Correa finished the season with 59 tackles, 19 tackles for loss, 12 sacks and two forced fumbles.

Already, defensive line coach Steve Caldwell is fielding questions about whether Correa could be the next Bronco to jump early to the NFL.

“He can play at that level,” Caldwell said on National Signing Day. “I’ve never talked to him about leaving early. A number of people have brought it up. I just told Kamalei if it ever does come up, he’s got to get a lot better than he is right now and be more consistent.”
