Bronco Beat

Here's how tickets will work if MW football championship game is in Boise

Boise State won’t sell tickets for the Mountain West football championship game unless it beats Utah State on Saturday night to secure a spot in the game. The Broncos would host.

Tickets would be $40 in most of the stadium and $20 in the north end zone. They will go on sale immediately after Saturday’s game if the Broncos win. Season-ticket holders would have until 9 p.m. Tuesday to purchase their current seats. Tickets for the general public also would go on sale immediately after the game.

Season-ticket holders should have received an email Tuesday afternoon with details, but they won’t be able to purchase anything unless the Broncos win.

Full-time students receive free tickets. Guest tickets would be $9. Those would be available next Monday and Tuesday.

Parking would be $10 for the general admission Norco, Manitou and Lincoln Garage lots, $20 for reserved spaces and $40 for RV parking.

The MW championship game is at 8 p.m. Dec. 6 and airs on CBS.

Last year’s championship game netted $1,060,000 for the Mountain West. The home team gets 10 percent, the visiting team gets 5 percent and the rest is split among the 12 conference members.

Last year, Fresno State received about $181,000 as the home team. Utah State received about $128,000. The other 10 members received about $75,000.

Boise State had distributed 31,000 tickets for Saturday’s game against Utah State (8:21 p.m., ESPN2).

Boise State junior tailback Jay Ajayi did not make the three-man finalist cut for the Doak Walker Award (top running back), which was announced Tuesday. Here’s how Ajayi stacks up against the finalists:
