Former Boise State safety Jeremy Ioane’s kidney transplant is scheduled for Tuesday at the University of Utah. He will receive a kidney from his twin sister, Jasmine.
Ioane, a starter for much of his career, played as a senior last season while undergoing dialysis to treat a kidney disease.
The surgery takes about 3 1/2 hours and will require Ioane to remain in the Salt Lake City area for three months for follow-up care.
His nephrologist, Dr. Michael Adcox, told the Idaho Statesman in November that Ioane should be able to live for decades with a new kidney.
“He’ll feel fantastic compared to how he feels now,” Adcox said.
