Coeur d'Alene High football player Drew Berger committed to play at Boise State on Wednesday afternoon, he told the Idaho Statesman.
The 6-foot-1, 223-pound senior is projected as a middle linebacker at Boise State and is considered a three-star prospect by Scout.com.
Berger said his only other offer was from Idaho. He said he was waiting on an offer from Washington State, but hadn't been contacted by the Cougars in several weeks. After talking it over with his family, Berger said now was the right time to commit to Boise State.
"I felt like Boise was the right spot," he said. "... I'm in love with Boise."
Berger is very close with Boise State tight end Chase Blakley, a former teammate at Coeur d'Alene. Berger refers to Blakley as his brother.
Boise State coach Bryan Harsin and many members of the coaching staff sent out customary "Go Broncos" tweets.
The Broncos did not sign a linebacker in the 2014 class.
Baltazar no longer at Washington State
Former Boise State running back Aaron Baltazar is no longer a member of the team at Washington State, a school spokesman told the Idaho Statesman on Wednesday.
Baltazar rushed for 234 yards before suffering a season-ending knee injury. He left the program after the regular season and transferred to Washington State.
