Boise State continues to load up at linebacker in 2021 recruiting class
The Boise State football team added a third linebacker to its 2021 recruiting class on Sunday.
Encinitas, California, native Marco Notarainni announced his verbal commitment on Twitter Sunday afternoon.
The 6-foot-3, 195-pound outside linebacker is a three-star recruit, according to 247Sports. He also had scholarship offers from Oregon State, Utah State, New Mexico and Columbia.
The Broncos first commit in the class was Jai Jones — a three-star inside linebacker from Dallas, who joined in April. Oklahoma City native Rejhan Tatum — also a three-star inside linebacker — committed last Sunday.
Notarainni is entering his third season as a starter at Torrey Pines High School, where he has totaled 148 tackles, six sacks and two interceptions over the past two seasons. He’s the second recruit the Broncos have pulled out of Torrey Pines, joining tight end Matthew Lauter, who committed in August.
Boise State is loading up for the future at linebacker, as two of the team’s top three returners at the position this year are seniors. Riley Whimpey led the team last season with 83 tackles, and Benton Whickersham finished third with 63.
Ezekial Noah is a redshirt junior, who missed all but four games last fall, and the Broncos added graduate transfer linebacker Brock Miller in January, but he only has one year of eligibility remaining.
