Idaho college roundup: Nobley’s 1,000th kill helps BSU win tourney

Boise State won the Golden Flashes Classic on Friday, beating Wright State 25-22, 25-19, 25-10 and host Kent State 25-19, 25-17, 25-20.

Junior Sierra Nobley recorded 16 kills in the first game, becoming the fastest Bronco to reach 1,000 kills.

Thirteen other Broncos have reached the milestone, but Nobley did so in her 64th match. She is the second player to reach the mark in her junior season.

Nobley added 15 in the second game to bring her total to 1,009 and earn tournament MVP honors. Kaitlyn Oliver and Maddi Osburn also made the all-tournament team. BSU (3-2) plays at Cleveland State at 2 p.m. MT Saturday on ESPN3.

BSU SOCCER: Oregon rallied to beat the Broncos 2-1 in Eugene. Eva Herrera scored for BSU (1-3-0).

COLLEGE OF IDAHO VOLLEYBALL: The Yotes (6-4, 1-1 Cascade) cruised to their first conference win, defeating Walla Walla 25-10, 25-12, 25-11.

NORTHWEST NAZARENE VOLLEYBALL: The Crusaders swept two matches at the Dixie State Tournament, beating Cal State Monterey Bay 25-17, 25-20, 25-20 and Dixie State 28-26, 23-25, 18-25, 25-14, 15-12.

NNU CROSS COUNTRY: Sierra Manzer (Melba High) outran the rest of the field at the Idaho State Invitational, finishing first with a time of 10:45.19. On the men’s side, Godfrey Kemboi finished in a tie for sixth.
