Idaho colleges: Boise State volleyball falls to Colorado State

Sierra Nobley had 15 kills, but the Broncos were swept by the 20th-ranked Rams 25-20, 25-21, 33-31 in a battle of Mountain West leaders Thursday night at Bronco Gym. Kaitlyn Oliver added 10 kills and six blocks for Boise State (14-7, 6-3), which has yet to beat Colorado State (16-3, 9-0) in 12 tries. Maddi Osburn (Vallivue High) had a team-high 14 digs.

BSU MEN’S TENNIS: Two doubles teams advanced to the quarterfinals of the USTA/ITA Mountain Regional in Albuquerque, N.M. Toby Mitchell and Kyle Butters won their opening match, as did Thomas Tenreiro and Lewis Roskilly. All four players went 1-1 in singles.

NORTHWEST NAZARENE VOLLEYBALL: The Crusaders (12-7, 9-2 GNAC) swept No. 11 Western Washington 25-23, 25-23, 25-23 in Bellingham. Kendra Bodine led NNU with 17 kills, and Madi Ferrell had 11 kills and five blocks. Hailey Cook (Skyview High) added 48 assists.

NNU MEN’S SOCCER: The Crusaders (10-4-1, 6-3-1) set an NCAA-era, single-game program record for goals in a 7-0 rout of Saint Martin’s in Nampa. Fernando Alvarez had a hat trick, and Erik Anderson (Boise High) scored twice.

NNU WOMEN’S SOCCER: The Crusaders (5-8-1, 2-6-1) lost to Western Oregon 3-1 in Monmouth, Ore.

NNU WOMEN’S BASKETBALL: Senior guard Taylor Simmons (Middleton High) and sophomore guard Ellie Logan were named to the GNAC preseason all-conference team. Northwest Nazarene is sixth in the GNAC preseason poll released last week.
