Idaho colleges notebook: Boise State volleyball picked to finish second in Mountain West

The Boise State women’s volleyball team received one first-place vote and 83 points, tying UNLV for No. 2 in the preseason coaches’ poll released Thursday.

Six-time defending league champion Colorado State received seven first-place votes and 97 points.

Boise State sophomore outside hitter Sierra Nobley was named to the preseason All-Mountain West team.

The Broncos open the season Aug. 28 against Portland State in the Northwest Challenge in Spokane. Their first home match is against Idaho State at 7 p.m. Sept. 3.

COLLEGE OF IDAHO VOLLEYBALL: Despite a career-high 19 kills from Abbey Fenton, the Coyotes fell in five games to second-ranked Biola at the Red Lion-Anaheim SummerSlam in La Mirada, Calif.
