GOLF: No. 1 seed Gabby Barker of Caldwell beat Brooklyn Hocker of Provo, Utah, 1 up in the quarterfinals of the 114th Pacific Northwest Women’s Amateur at BanBury Golf Course in Eagle on Friday, then lost to Alivia Brown of Gig Harbor, Wash., 1 up in the semifinals. In the Pacific Northwest Women’s Mid-Amateur, also at BanBury on Friday, Kareen Markle of Meridian lost her semifinal to top-seeded Lani Elston of Milwaukie, Ore., 2 up. In the quarterfinals, Markle eliminated Molly Edmunds of Portland 6 and 4, while Karen Darrington of Boise lost her match to Karen Kloske of Lake Cowichan, B.C., 2-1.
