Idaho colleges roundup: College of Idaho softball catcher named NAIA All-American

Destiny Turner (Mountain View High) made the NAIA second team, the first C of I position player to do so after pitchers Katie Zillner (2008) and Nickayla Skinner (2014). The sophomore set program season records for batting average (.468), doubles (20) and on-base percentage (.551) and is second all-time in hits (66), walks (27) and RBIs (45). She also hit three home runs and committed just one error in 2015.

BOISE STATE SOFTBALL: The Broncos signed Russian national team member Tatiana Sorokina (Howard College, Texas) and pitcher Elisa Villavicencio-Perez (Modesto, Calif.) to letters of intent. Sorokina, a pitcher/infielder, joins the program as a junior.

IDAHO STATE SOFTBALL: Catcher Vicky Galasso signed a contract with the Chicago Bandits of National Pro Fastpitch. Galasso made the team through an open tryout this week.

C OF I MEN’S SOCCER: The Coyotes signed Admir and Mehmed Selimovic (Mountain View High/Grand Canyon University), defenders Sid Rayne (Meridian High/North Idaho College) and Preston Hughes (Los Olivos, Calif.), midfielders Eldin Cvrk (Borah High) and Klausse Hume (Rocky Mountain High), and goalkeeper Austin Miller (Eagle High).

ISU WOMEN’S BASKETBALL: The Bengals signed forward Sai Tapasa (Monmouth, Ore.) to a letter of intent.
