Idaho colleges roundup: Boise State men’s golf opens Mountain West tournament

Senior Ty Travis (Eagle High) leads the Broncos with a 1-over 72 after the first round of the Mountain West Championships on Friday. Boise State is tied for eighth with a score of 11-over 295. UNLV leads with 11-under 273.

BSU SOFTBALL: The Broncos (12-37) lost to New Mexico 7-6 in Albuquerque, N.M.

BSU TRACK & FIELD: The Broncos recorded five top-three finishes in field events at the Idaho/Utah Border Clash at Dona Larsen Park. Karyna Armstrong took third in the hammer at 193 feet, 11 inches. Juston Lindsley tossed the discus 172-9 to finish second.

COLLEGE OF IDAHO BASEBALL: The Coyotes (32-25) lost to Concordia 5-2 in the NAIA West Grouping Tournament in Portland. The loss sends the C of I to the elimination bracket.

NORTHWEST NAZARENE BASEBALL: The Crusaders (26-25, 14-16 GNAC) lost to Western Oregon 11-3 and 1-0 in Monmouth.

NNU TRACK & FIELD: Caitlin Curtis finished eighth in the hammer at the Idaho/Utah Border Clash at Dona Larsen Park. Her throw of 169 feet, 11 inches broke the school record of 167-8 set by Amy Carroll in 2008 and was an NCAA Division II national provisional qualifier.

IDAHO STATE SOFTBALL: The Bengals clinched their third straight Big Sky championship after sweeping North Dakota in a pair of five-inning games, 12-0 and 8-0, in Pocatello.
