Idaho colleges roundup: Boise State men’s tennis cruises in Mountain West opener

Thomas Tenreiro and Abe Hewko earned singles and doubles victories, and the fifth-seeded Broncos blanked Fresno State 4-0 in the Mountain West quarterfinals Thursday to improve to 9-0 all-time in the conference tournament. Garrett Patton (Boise High) earned the clinching point in No. 1 singles in three sets. Boise State will face top-seeded New Mexico in a semifinal at noon Saturday.

BSU MEN’S GOLF: The Broncos signed Connor Bell (Sacramento), Alex Francois (Burnaby, B.C.) and Travis Evans (Santa Rosa Junior College) to letters of intent.

COLLEGE OF IDAHO TRACK AND FIELD: Tiana Thomas set a program first-day record in the women’s heptathlon with 2,818 points to take the lead at the Cascade Conference Multi-Event Championships in Hermiston, Ore.
