Idaho colleges notebook: Boise State volleyball beats San Diego State

The Broncos outlasted San Diego State for a 26-24, 23-25, 25-23, 24-26, 17-15 win Saturday, improving to 14-6 overall and moving to second place in the Mountain West standings at 6-2.

It was Boise State’s first road win over the Aztecs (6-14, 3-5).

Sophomore outside hitter Sierra Nobley and senior setter Sarah Baugh each recorded double-doubles.

Nobley tallied a team-high 19 kills with 11 digs, and Baugh had 61 assists with 10 digs.

Sophomore libero Maddi Osburn (Vallivue High) led the Broncos in digs (15) and aces (three).

NORTHWEST NAZARENE CROSS COUNTRY: The men’s and women’s teams each placed fifth at the Lewis and Clark Invitational in Estacada, Ore. Sierra Manzer (Melba High) had the best individual finish in fifth.

NNU WOMEN’S SOCCER: For the second straight game, the Crusaders (5-7-1, 2-5-1 GNAC) fell in overtime, losing 2-1 to Central Washington at Finkbeiner Park in Nampa. Senior forward Lexi Fesenbek scored NNU’s goal in the 31st minute.

NNU MEN’S SOCCER: Senior forward Erik Anderson (Boise High) scored twice as the Crusaders (9-4-1, 5-3-1 GNAC) beat the University of Mary 3-2 in Bismarck, N.D.

NNU VOLLEYBALL: The Crusaders (11-7, 8-2 GNAC) topped Seattle Pacific 25-17, 26-28, 24-26, 25-16, 15-10 in Seattle as middle blocker Jenna Caywood recorded a career-high 20 kills with six blocks. Setter Hailey Cook (Skyview High) added a career-best 59 assists and 13 digs.

COLLEGE OF IDAHO VOLLEYBALL: Senior setter Sierra Porter (Rocky Mountain High) dished out 31 assists as the Coyotes (14-9, 12-3 CCC) swept Evergreen State 25-18, 25-16, 25-16 in Olympia, Wash.

C OF I CROSS COUNTRY: Behind a 10th-place finish from Ruth Lewinski, the Coyote women took third among non-NCAA Division I teams at the Inland Empire Challenge in Lewiston. The C of I men finished third.
