After back-to-back road wins, the College of Idaho hosts Rocky Mountain on Saturday (1 p.m., 730 AM and 96.5 FM), seeking its first three-game winning streak since reinstating football in 2014.
The Yotes (2-1, 1-1 Frontier Conference) upset No. 10 Eastern Oregon 20-7 last week, the program’s first road win over a Top 25 team and the highest ranked opponent the Yotes have ever beaten.
Safety Nate Moore (Mountain View High) set a school record with 16 tackles in the win, earning NAIA national defensive player of the week honors. Moore and the rest of the conference’s top defense (15 ppg) will be tested against Rocky Mountain (2-2, 2-1) and its pass-heavy offense.
Sophomore quarterback Tyler Cox (Boise High) has recovered from a rough season debut to emerge as a dual threat. He’s run for 149 yards and ranks third in the NAIA with a 69.5 percent completion rate.
Tight end Marcus Lenhardt (Eagle High) needs eight catches to surpass former NFL receiver R.C. Owens as the school’s all-time leading receiver with 109 catches.
Rocky Mountain is from Billings, Mont.
