Boise Hawks rally past Hillsboro Hops for extra-inning win

Wesley Jones hit a two-run double in the top of the 10th, and the Boise Hawks capped off their rally with a 7-4 win over the Hillsboro Hops on Friday night in Northwest League baseball action.

Hilsboro jumped out to a 4-1 lead, but Boise (29-37, 12-15 NWL second half) clawed back to 4-3 after Antony Brito hit a two-run double, scoring Jones and Jacob Bosiokovic. In the ninth, Brito came through again, scoring Bosiokovic on a single to tie the game at 4-4. Bosiokovic added another insurance run, following Jones’ double with a double of his own.

Hillsboro (36-30, 17-10) went down in order to finish the game.

Jones finished with three hits, two RBIs and two runs scored. Brito tallied two hits and four RBIs, and Bosiokovic added two hits and and two runs scored. Jared Gesell picked up the win, striking out five of the six batters he faced. Justin Lawrence earned his sixth save.

Hillsboro and Boise continue their series at 6:03 p.m. Saturday.
