Boise’s minor-league baseball team unveiled its initial 32-man roster Tuesday with a mix of returning players, 2016 draftees and veteran professionals.

Six players return from the 2015 Hawks, including 20-year-old second baseman Luis Castro. Baseball America named him the Colorado Rockies’ top international signing of 2012, but he hit .219 in Boise last summer as one of the youngest players in the league.

He’s joined by 12 picks from the 2016 draft, with the highest being ninth-round selection Justin Calomeni (pitcher, Cal Poly San Luis Obispo). The top overall draft pick on the roster is pitcher Javier Medina, Colorado’s third-round pick in 2015.

The Hawks begin their 30th season since bringing minor league baseball back to Boise in 1987 on Friday at Eugene. Boise’s home opener is 7:15 p.m. Monday versus Salem-Keizer at Memorial Stadium.
