Allie Ostrander, a member of the women’s cross country team, will represent the United States at the Junior World Mountain Running Championships on Saturday in Snowdonia, North Wales. The 4.8-kilometer race will feature 250 meters of elevation gain in what will be a single loop course.
BSU SOCCER: Baylee Blaser (Mountain View High) scored in the 106th minute Friday to give the Broncos a 2-1 win over Saint Mary’s in Moraga, Calif., and their first overtime win of the season. Kayla Tucker also scored for BSU (2-4-2), while Michelle Reed recorded an assist.
BSU VOLLEYBALL: The Broncos lost to Northern Arizona 21-25, 34-32, 25-18, 25-23 on the first day of the Grand Canyon University Invitational in Phoenix. Kaitlyn Oliver recorded a career-high 18 kills, and Sierra Nobley had a double-double with 17 kills and 13 digs for BSU (6-4), whose five-match winning streak ended.
BSU MEN’S TENNIS: Lewis Roskilly defeated San Diego’s Pratt Keerasuntonpong 6-2, 6-2 in the back draw of the Racquet Club Collegiate Invitational in Midland, Texas. In San Francisco, Toby Mitchell and Kyle Butters combined for an 8-5 victory in the Battle in the Bay Classic.
BSU WOMEN’S TENNIS: Teal Vosburgh will play for the singles title Saturday at the BYU Invitational in Provo. Vosburgh won a pair of matches Friday, winning in straight sets in the quarterfinals and holding off a late rally to win a third-set tiebreaker in the semifinals.
COLLEGE OF IDAHO VOLLEYBALL: Randi Sturtz had 13 kills and Sierra Porter logged 47 assists and seven digs as the Coyotes (5-8) beat Evergreen 25-16, 25-20, 26-24 in Caldwell.
NORTHWEST NAZARENE MEN’S GOLF: The Crusaders are tied for 11th place at 40-over 608 after the first two rounds of the Saint Martin’s Invitational in Olympia, Wash.
