Idaho acquired the rights to Fort Wayne defenseman James Martin in exchange for the rights to forward Alex Belzile, head coach Neil Graham announced Tuesday.
Martin, 24, had nine goals, 32 assists, 40 penalty minutes and a plus-4 rating in 60 games last season with the Komets, where he was named an ECHL All-Star. Martin also was part of Alaska’s Kelly Cup championship team in 2014. Belzile scored 69 points for Idaho last season, including 28 goals.
Idaho also agreed to terms with forward Andre Bouvet-Morrissette, 24, who had 11 points (six goals) in 14 games for Evansville in 2014-15. The Steelheads open their season Oct. 16 against Rapid City at CenturyLink Arena.
