Vancouver’s miscues help Boise Hawks win at home

Javier Palacios gave up one earned run in six innings, and Boise took advantage of several Vancouver mistakes to earn a 7-4 victory Friday at Memorial Stadium.

The Hawks (16-27, 2-3 Northwest League second half) scored their first run on a bases-loaded walk in the second. Marcos Derkes advanced two bases on a pickoff attempt error in the sixth, then scored on a passed ball. In the eighth, a throwing error and two wild pitches allowed Boise to score three insurance runs after clinging to a 4-3 lead.

Brian Mundell had two hits, and Kevin Padlo, Terry McClure and Derkes accounted for Boise’s three RBIs. Palacios scattered four hits, striking out three and walking none. Game 4 of the five-game series is at 7:15 p.m. Saturday.
