Idaho rallied twice Saturday night but couldn’t come up with the win, falling to Alaska 5-4 on the road. The Aces took a 1-0 lead in the first period, then made it 3-0 in the second before Idaho cut the deficit to 3-2. Alaska tacked on another goal in the third, and Idaho scored twice to notch the score a 4-4. The Aces put the game-winner on the board 14:48 into the third period. Andrew Carroll, Jefferson Dahl, Emil Molin and Taylor Peters scored for Idaho. Joe Basaraba and Corbin Baldwin added two assists apiece. Eric Hartzell had 35 saves for Idaho, which hosts the Utah Grizzlies on Friday night at CenturyLink Arena in Downtown Boise.
Alaska surges past Idaho late Friday night
Brandon Magee put the Steelheads on the board in the first period, but Alaska rallied with a three-goal second period en route to a 4-1 victory. It was the first loss in regulation for the Steelheads (2-1-1-0), and it ends Idaho’s season-opening points streak at three games.
