EVERETT, Wash. Boise struggled to find its offense and fell to Everett 6-1 on Saturday. Starter Colin Welmon (0-2) took the loss after giving up six hits, three earned runs and a home run. Eric Toole led the Hawks (4-6) with two hits and one RBI. Joey Wong hit a double and scored Boise’s lone run. Toole and Brian Carroll each stole a base to give the Hawks a league-high 26 steals. The teams resume their five-game series at 5:05 p.m. Sunday.
Hawks survive shootout against AquaSox
EVERETT, Wash. Boise jumped out to an early five-run lead and held on to defeat Everett 11-10 late Friday night. The Hawks led 5-0 in the second inning, but the AquaSox used a four-run fourth inning to catch up. Everett continued to match Boise’s offense, and went into the ninth inning with the score tied 10-10. Eric Toole hit a two-out double to bring Brian Mundell home and put the Hawks up 11-10. Closer Cristian Quintin kept the AquaSox off the board and earned his first win of the season.
