Mountain West announces conference basketball schedules

The Mountain West announced its 2015-16 conference basketball schedules Wednesday. For the Boise State men, it means avoiding a place that hasn't been kind to the Broncos lately.

With 11 schools and 18 league games, the unbalanced slate allows each team to play eight teams twice, while only playing one once on the road and one once at home.

The Broncos will not play at Fresno State, the only Mountain West arena they have not won at the last two seasons. They also will not host Air Force, which has finished in the bottom four of the league the last four seasons.

Boise State, last season's regular-season league champion, opens its defense Jan. 2 or 3 at Taco Bell Arena against Colorado State. The home finale is March 1 or 2 against Nevada. The Broncos have open dates Dec. 30 and Feb. 20. Tipoff times have not been set, nor has television been scheduled. Dates can change depending on television selections.

The Boise State women's basketball team, last season's Mountain West Tournament champion, opens Jan. 2 at Colorado State and hosts Utah State on Jan. 6. The women unveiled their entire schedule Wednesday. The Broncos open the regular season Nov. 13 at Bronco Gym against Cal State Los Angeles and host Washington State, led by former Bronco coach June Daugherty, on Dec. 3. The nonconference schedule for the men’s team will be released later this summer.
