New Hawks pitcher strikes out 11 in win over Eugene

On the same day he was added to the Boise roster, Logan Sawyer had 11 strikeouts to lead Boise to a 4-2 win over the Emeralds on Tuesday night. Sawyer earned his first win despite giving up seven hits an two runs in 62/3 innings.

Sawyer, previously a starter for the Asheville Tourists, landed in Boise on Monday evening and took the long bus ride to Eugene.

Max George hit two doubles, and Kevin Padlo had two RBIs for the Hawks (3-3), who scored the first run of a game for the first time this season.

Taylor Black earned the save as the Hawks improved to 3-3 on the season.

Game 2 of the series in Eugene is 8:05 p.m. Wednesday.
