Les Bois Park’s views on American Pharoah: Superstar or another Triple Crown tease?

Nikeela Black: Last season’s top jockey at Les Bois

Why American Pharoah can win: “He ran on a fast track in the Derby, then in the slop in the Preakness. That impressed me. He can run on any track.’’

Why American Pharoah can lose: “At this point, it’s an endurance game. There’s going to be a lot of fresh horses against him, and it’s his third race in five weeks.’’

What does this opportunity mean to horse racing: “I’d love it (if American Pharoah won the Triple Crown). If I didn’t have to race Saturday, I’d probably try to go. It hasn’t happened in my lifetime and may not again.’’

Craig Stevens: Jockey agent, brother of jockey Gary Stevens

Why American Pharoah can win: “He does everything right. He doesn’t have to always be in front. He can get in a good spot, then accelerate again toward the end.’’

Why American Pharoah can lose: “I think he’s the best one, but as we’ve seen so many times, if you don’t have your A-game, and one of those fresh ones does, you’ll get outrun.’’

What does this opportunity mean to horse racing: “I’d like to see it won, but whenever one’s close, people talk about horse racing, so it might not make the next one as exciting. Both are good.’’

Monty Arrossa: Last season’s top quarter horse trainer at Les Bois

Why American Pharoah can win: “The way he’s built, his confirmation, it looks like he has a lot of heart, and he’s run hard every time, so I don’t see why he won’t again.’’

Why American Pharoah can lose: “Luck has so much to do with it, so if he doesn’t have some, he may not win. He certainly has the talent, but it’s a hard race to run.’’

What does this opportunity mean to horse racing: “I absolutely want to see it done. I’ve seen so many come close, but I think it would be great. The horse deserves it.’’
