The international friendly between Spain’s Athletic Bilbao and Mexico’s Club Tijuana will kick off at 7 p.m. Saturday, July 18 at Albertsons Stadium, 11 days earlier than originally planned.
Organizers for the event had to move the game away from the start of Jaialdi to accommodate Bilbao’s preseason schedule. The club from the Basque region in Spain finished seventh in the La Liga standings, earning it a spot in the qualifying round in the UEFA Europa League, Europe’s second most prestigious club tournament.
The third round of qualifying starts July 30, and Bilbao can’t field a competitive team a day apart on two separate continents.
Tickets for the original July 29 game will be honored. If you purchased a ticket online and can’t attend the game, organizers said you should be receiving an email from the Boise State University Ticket Office and Ticketmaster about a refund plan. If you bought a ticket in person, you can call the ticket office at 208-426-4737. Only tickets purchased before May 31 are eligible for refunds.
Organizers for the event have asked anyone seeking a refund to do so before June 19 so they can resell those tickets.
