Idaho colleges notebook: Two Broncos, one Vandal qualify for NCAA track and field nationals

Senior Jordin Andrade had the second-fastest qualifying time in the men’s 400-meter hurdles (49.67 seconds), and senior Marisa Howard finished fifth in the women’s 3,000 steeplechase (9:59.55) Friday at the 2015 NCAA Division I Men’s and Women’s Outdoor Track and Field West Preliminary. Both advance to the NCAA Outdoor Championships on June 10-13 in Eugene, Ore.

Five other Broncos came up short in their bids: Allison Jeffries (Eagle High, 14th women’s pole vault), Mackenzie Flannigan (13th women’s 100), Fernando Martinez (18th men’s 400 hurdles), Jordan Ward (Lakeland High, 24th women’s high jump) and Alexandru Terpezan (27th men’s 200).

IDAHO:

Senior Alycia Butterworth earned the 12th and final national qualifying spot in the women’s 3,000 steeplechase with her time of 10:12.68. Teammate Holly Stanton finished 26th (10:12.68).

IDAHO STATE:

Caitlin Maulin (Boise High) cleared 13 feet, 1 inch in the women’s pole vault to finish 33rd, and Hayli Worthington (Minico High) clocked a 59.73 in the women’s 400 hurdles for 17th place.



• 

OTHERS WITH VALLEY TIES:

Oregon State freshman Sam McKinnon (Mountain View High) ran a 10:33.02 in the women’s 3,000 steeplechase to finish 21st.
