Boise’s Famous Idaho Potato Bowl set for Dec. 22

For the first time since 2009, the Boise-based Famous Idaho Potato Bowl will not kick off on a Saturday to start the bowl season.

On Thursday, it was announced the game will take place at 1:30 p.m. MT on Tuesday, Dec. 22 at Albertsons Stadium. It will be televised on ESPN. It will again feature a team from the Mountain West and from the MAC. Air Force beat Western Michigan 38-24 in last year's game.

Though the game's kickoff is not exactly primetime, it will be the only game occurring at that time.

"Moving the date and time to a Tuesday allows us to have our own stand-alone slot free of any other bowl games," bowl director Kevin McDonald said in a statement. "We look forward to creating a bigger and better game-day experience for our local and traveling fans."

Tickets are expected to go on sale to the general public in September.
