Idaho colleges roundup: Boise State golfer third in Santa Barbara

Sophomore Kyle Mitsunaga (Boise High) is tied for third after the opening rounds of the UC Santa Barbara Intercollegiate on Monday. Mitsunaga fired an eagle and four birdies, completing the day with a 1-over 145 (76-69) at the par-72 Sandpiper Golf Club. Freshman Jacob Byers also enters Tuesday’s final round in the top 10 after rounds of 74-73. Senior Ty Travis (Eagle High) notched an eagle and six birdies for a two-round total of 150. Boise State is fourth, 10 strokes behind leader UC Santa Barbara.

C OF I/NNU BASEBALL: The series finale between Canyon County rivals the College of Idaho and Northwest Nazarene has been moved from Tuesday to Wednesday because of potential weather issues. The game now starts at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday at Elmore Vail Field on the NNU campus in Nampa. Rain and freezing temperatures are in Tuesday’s forecast. Each team has a victory in this season’s three-game series.

NNU GOLF: The Crusaders are 17th after the opening 36 holes of the Harry Stanislaus Invitational at the Turlock (Calif.) Golf & Country Club.
