Idaho colleges: Boise State softball splits doubleheader, wins first series of season

The Broncos lost Sunday’s first game to Nevada 4-3 in nine innings but rebounded with a 16-13 victory to complete a three-game Mountain West series at Dona Larsen Park. Boise State (10-32, 2-10), which entered the weekend on a 16-game losing streak, scored seven runs in the sixth inning of the second game. Jordan Krieger finished 3-for-3 with two doubles and two runs, and Devon Bridges hit her sixth homer of the season.

BSU MEN’S TENNIS: The Broncos (10-15, 3-3 MW) lost to host Fresno State 4-3. Garrett Patton (Boise High) and Danny Moyer had singles wins to add to Boise State’s doubles point.

BSU SAND VOLLEYBALL: Broncos players went 1-4 on the second day of the USAV Collegiate Challenge Pairs Tournament in Hermosa Beach, Calif. Sarah Baugh and Sierra Nobley split their matches and advanced to the third round of the Silver Bracket.

WOMEN’S TENNIS: Boise State (9-11) defeated the College of Idaho 7-0 at the Appleton Tennis Center. Seniors Kaitlyn Brown (Timberline High) and Sammie Watson won singles matches in their final home appearance. The Coyotes fell to 2-6.

COLLEGE OF IDAHO BASEBALL: The Coyotes (26-18, 10-10 NAIA West) split a doubleheader with Oregon Tech in Klamath Falls, losing the first game 8-5 and winning the second 12-10. Cole Mansanerez went 4-for-5 with two doubles, two runs and an RBI in the nightcap.

C OF I SOFTBALL: The Coyotes (17-29, 8-16 Cascade Conference) lost to Northwest Christian 11-10 in 10 innings in Clackamas, Ore., to complete a game that was suspended April 3.
