Another first for Boise State basketball: Broncos break into AP Top 25

Fresh off a 71-52 win Saturday that clinched a share of the Mountain West championship, the Boise State men's basketball team has another huge accomplishment under its belt — the Broncos are ranked for the first time ever.

The Broncos are No. 25 in the latest Associated Press Top 25, released Monday morning. Check out the full poll here. In the USA Today coaches' poll, the Broncos are outside the top 25 by two spots, though San Diego State is No. 25.

Boise State (24-7) has won 14 of its last 15 games and set a school record this season with 14 conference wins. The Broncos' co-championship with San Diego State, which Boise State swept, is the sixth league title in Boise State history. Boise State is the No. 1 seed in the Mountain West Tournament, and the Broncos open play in Las Vegas at 1 p.m. MT Thursday against either New Mexico or Air Force. It's the first time the Broncos have had a No. 1 seed at a conference tournament since 1999.

This season, the Broncos have won for the first time at four different arenas — Utah State, UNLV, New Mexico and San Diego State. They also are on pace to hold teams to their lowest shooting percentage (currently 40.9 percent) since the first season they became a four-year school, in 1968-69.
