Limited reservations will be made available in the Park N’ Ski yurts near Idaho City beginning Wednesday, Idaho State Parks and Recreation announced.

Some mid-week and weekend dates are available for the Banner Ridge and Stargaze yurts. Reservations can be made from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Mountain weekdays beginning Wednesday by calling (855) 514-2429.

Banner Ridge and Stargaze are the only two Park N’ Ski yurts open this winter. The other four are closed because of the Pioneer Fire that burned through that region this past summer.

The yurts sleep up to six people and rent for $85, $100 or $115 per night depending on the dates. More details about the yurts are available here.

Yurt reservations were suspended during the Pioneer Fire. They become available nine months in advance, so many of the dates for this winter were booked before the fire. When reservations re-open, the booking window will extend nine months again.

The Park N’ Ski area won’t have groomed trails this winter but some trails are open for snowshoeing and cross country skiing. For more on recreating in that area, check out our winter recreation previews on snowshoeing, cross country skiing and yurts.

Trails that will be open this winter include: the Stargaze trail to the Stargaze yurt; the Elkhorn trail to the top of Banner Ridge; and the groomed snowmobile trails out of the Whoop-Um-Up Park N’ Ski lot. All of the Idaho City Ski parking areas will be plowed this winter. An Idaho Park N’ Ski permit will be required.
