Description: The Clearwater is a big, rolling river that is famous for large steelhead that frequently weigh in the 15- to 20-pound range. It also is a favorite place for spring salmon fishing and has trout and smallmouth bass fishing.
Getting there: Take Idaho 55 and U.S. 95 to the Clearwater. You can get to the upper river faster by going east from Grangeville and following the South Fork of the Clearwater to Kooskia.
Drive time: About five hours.
