Sawtooth forest drops fire restrictions except at SNRA

A series of storms have come through the area and weather stations are showing levels of precipitation that indicate it is not necessary to go into fire restrictions, Sawtooth Forest officials said Tuesday, Aug. 5

The Sawtooth NRA will continue to have Stage 1 Fire Restrictions due to the large buildup of bug killed lodgepole. Stage 1 limits campfires to designated campgrounds and recreational facilities with fire rings. You can find a map and designated campsites here.

Easing restrictions hardly means fire season is over.

"We continue to ask that the public be diligent with campfires and ensure that they do not leave an unattended campfire. Make sure that it is cool to the touch before leaving the area," the agency said in a press release.
