You can camp at the Chinook Campground and ride or hike about five miles to Loon Lake along a scenic trail. The campground is on the banks of the Secesh River and offers lots of mountain scenery.
How to get there: Drive 102 miles north of Boise on Idaho 55 to McCall. Take Warren Wagon Road north. The campground is 25 miles from McCall. It should take about three hours.
Activities: Catch-and-release trout fishing, hiking, exploring on back roads.
Amenities: This is a typical U.S. Forest Service campground, with outhouses and no drinking water.
