‘OUTDOOR IDAHO’ EXPLORES THE FRANK
Idaho Public Television captures the history and the beauty of the Frank Church-River of No Return Wilderness in the latest episode of its “Outdoor Idaho” series. “The Frank” airs at 8 p.m. Thursday and repeats at 7 p.m. Sunday.

Hundreds of amateur photographers captured all the things we love most about Idaho’s outdoors — the scenery, the wildlife and the fun — for this year’s Idaho Outdoors/Idaho Camera photo contest.

Four expert judges pored over 305 photos last week to find the five winners and the roughly two dozen honorable mentions that will be featured in next week’s special edition of Idaho Outdoors and at IdahoStatesman.com.

FAMILY FEST AT BRUNDAGE ON SATURDAY
The Family Festival and Hot Summer Night event includes a free treasure hunt, lawn games and a kid-sized interpretive nature trail. Lift service for scenic chairlift rides will be available until 7 p.m. (Brundage winter pass holders can ride the lift for free from 5-7 p.m. Regular lift prices apply for non-season pass holders).
Less experienced mountain bikers can ride for free on the new Triple-Play Beginners Skills Course located in the base, and there is a nine-hole disc golf course, also located in the base area.
From 3-5 p.m., there is face painting, a treasure hunt, cupcake decorating, a dress-up photo booth, treats and prizes. From 5-8 p.m., there is a beer tent with $5 burgers or brats off the grill, and live music with Checkered Dick and Full Monty.
