Boise National Forest opening some campgrounds for the weekend. South Fork of the Boise River camping will reopen by Memorial Day.

Forest Service officials announced campgrounds along the South Fork Payette River will be open without services (no garbage, no water) beginning Friday, May 8. Because there will be no services, campers can stay free at the following campgrounds:

Pine Flats

Deadwood

Park Creek

Mountain View

Kirkham

Helende

Bonneville

The restrooms have been cleaned and stocked with toilet paper, but vaults may not be pumped until next week. Fees will be charged once services are restored.

Bull Trout Campground and those in the Deadwood and Bear Valley areas are still closed by snow.

Idaho City area, Grayback Gulch is open.

The following campgrounds are currently open on the Emmett District:

Hot Springs

Tie Creek

Silver Creek

Trail Creek

Rattlesnake Group Camp

Hardscrabble.

Mountain Home Ranger District officials reported that some dispersed camping areas along the South Fork of the Boise River and the west side of Anderson Ranch Dam reservoir will reopen before Memorial Day weekend. Those areas have been closed since the fall of 2013 when rainstorms caused mudslides in the river canyon.
