The Trinity Mountain Recreation Area, north of Mountain Home, will not open until July 15 because of snow, the U.S. Forest Service said Tuesday (July 1).
The area is at 8,000 feet in elevation where snows linger.
Forest Service crews also have to inspect the area, repair winter damage and check for any hazard trees.
All water systems also have to be inspected.
"For those that are familiar with the area the snow is holding in the usual locations - in Big Trinity Lake Campground going around to units 13-17, around Little Roaring Campground camp units, on the main road going towards Big Roaring Lake Campground and around the camp units," said Wintauna Belt, recreation officer with the Mountain Home Ranger District.
